RS Focus could be more affordable with car loans

 19/12/2007
Ford is to produce a new RS version of its Focus model in a bid to preserve its hot-hatch pedigree, it been suggested.

It is reported that the new car, which could be made more affordable with approved car finance, will be priced at around £25,000 and will compete with the likes of Volkswagen's Golf R32 and Subaru's Impreza STI, Auto Express reports.

The magazine states that the car could add to Ford's impressive lineage of sporty hatchbacks that in the past have included the rally legend that was the Escort RS Cosworth as well as the original RS version of the Focus.

"With stiffened and lowered suspension, plus updated brakes, the Focus RS will be the ultimate expression of Ford's driving excitement DNA," the magazine states.

It goes on to state that the car could be on the forecourts by Spring 2009 and will come with a "visual impact to match its performance", which could be of interest to car finance customers with rally styling in mind.

Ford's Escort RS Cosworth had a total of eight group A rally victories and scored two further wins for the Ford Motor Company Rally Team - the vehicle was retired in 1996 following the introduction of new European Union vehicle noise regulations.
